About

Soo basically since early summer of 2023, almost 3 years ago now I've had this on and off fascination with deserted tropical islands the idea of surviving/living there. This was the genesis of my interest nature survival in other environments. Basically this obsession with islands has manifested in research, stories, aspirations about visiting some and other stuff. This page is gonna try to document all of that.

But why??

Being 100% honest I don't/didn't have any immediate deep cool reason for my love of islands, they are just obviously cool as fuck. They look beautiful, like the default imagination of paradise, and super relaxing. Plus like I live in a part of the world that gets very very cold during the winter, so nice warm beaches appeal during the winter or rainy days. It's also probably the idea of being alone with no immediate jurdistiction or rules to hold you back, you can do whatever you want, and be away from stuff like politics and modern problems.

Origins

Soo this all started back at the start of summer in 2023, I was watching one of those short youtube documentaries about North Sentinel Island, the famous one with the isolated people. I went on Apple Maps to check out the area around the island because, yk I was curious and I found an island south of North Sentinel called North Brother Island (pictured 1st below). I thought that lake in the centre was really cool, and I wanted to camp there. Soooo I might've asked ChatGPT for some cool desert islands to camp on (I don't support AI, I was twelve and it was still pretty new at the time fdujgbsef). It gave me Manuae (pictured 2nd below), so I went there on Apple Maps again and I scrolled over the whole thing and eventually spotted its neighbours, Motu One and Maupihaa, and explored them too. After like a few hours of this I realized I'd need fresh water to survive on any islands (not knowing about other ways to get it atm) and so I zoomed out and zoomed in on a random island a bit north. I spotted a lake in the centre, it was Flint Island (pictured 3rd below). The same night I wrote a story about me and a fictional friend living on the island and I drew a sadly lost, crude map of it at my desk. Then it just kept going from there.
